Leaving this incredible city behind has been one of the most difficult transitions of my life, so I wanted to create something meaningful as a final thank-you to San Francisco and the community that shaped me. The project began with a simple idea: placing 15 photographic prints on the Muni line I rode most often — the 5 — but the concept felt too distant and impersonal for the connection I wanted to create. One day, while riding the bus, I noticed baskets labeled with small red “take one” stickers, and the project immediately evolved from 15 prints into 165 photographs: 15 larger, permanent works installed throughout the space, accompanied by 150 smaller prints viewers could take home. Later, while standing in line at the post office, the final piece of the concept came together. Rather than simply giving away prints, I decided to create 150 handmade “love letters” to the city, each containing a custom stamp, sticker, and a 4x6 print corresponding to the larger 8.5x11 photograph displayed above it. This project recieved recognition from Hi-Fructose Magazine and Inside Edition.
